Interior Department Takes Steps to Increase Voter Registration in Indigenous Communities | The Department of the Interior today announced that it is working with states to formally designate the Department-operated post-secondary Tribal institutions – Haskell Indian Nations University in Kansas and the Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute (SIPI) in New Mexico – as voter registration agencies under the National Voter Registration Act. This designation will facilitate voter registration opportunities for enrolled students and members of the community. |

Some of the various topics being presented will cover how the implementation of the TED grant project benefitted the overall system of education for students and families on reservations as well as the preliminary information on the 2021 Annual Report and State Performance Plan. Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute’s American Indian College Fund 2022 Student of the Year | The Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute (SIPI), is greatly honored to announce Mr. Derrick M. Shirley as SIPI’s 2022 recipient of the College Fund Student of the Year Award. Derrick is a first generation college student and member of the Dine´ Nation from Forest Lake Chapter, AZ. He is an exceptional individual as demonstrated not only through his campus and community involvement but also his academic excellence as a member of Phi Theta Kappa with a cumulative 4.00 GPA. He is a dual major in SIPI’s Accounting and Network Management programs. |
