Learn How We’re Getting Schools Summer‑Ready!
We’re excited to continue our new BIE Town Hall series — a quarterly virtual space for all staff across BIE-funded schools to learn about the Bureau and provide their input on its operations. These sessions create opportunities for connection, collaboration, and open conversation across our entire education community. You will hear directly from BIE leadership, ask questions, and share your voice on the topics that matter most to you.
Our second Town Hall will focus on the Division of School Operations – the behind-the-scenes work that keeps our schools running smoothly and safely – and how it connects to the BIE’s Strategic Direction. This Town Hall will highlight:
- Budget & Finance
- Obtain an insight into the BIE funding appropriations and better understand the importance of planning and managing your school budgets year-round. Understand how school operations funding and budgets align with priorities in the BIE’s new Strategic Direction.
- Safety & Facilities
- Get an inside look at how BIE buildings, classrooms, and communal areas are kept safe, clean, and in good working order, as well as how to generate work orders for facility-related projects. Evaluate staff contributions to maintaining safe and healthy classrooms, schools and office environments. The BIE’s Strategic Direction emphasizes overarching facilities management planning.
- Grants Management & Acquisitions
- Discover how schools procure supplies, services, and equipment. Summer is a critical window for purchasing materials for upcoming projects and securing contractors for maintenance work. Receive a short briefing on Public Law 100-297, the Tribally Controlled Schools Act, which applies to over 50% of BIE schools.
