This training is open to all Department of the Interior employees interested in learning more about the Hatch Act and its restrictions on political activities during the 2024 election season.

This course will provide an overview of the activities permitted and prohibited under the Hatch Act.  In the training, instructors will also discuss the answers to some of the most common Hatch Act questions received by the Departmental Ethics Office, including questions about:

  • The restrictions governing political activities in the Federal workplace and while on duty.
  • The 24/7 restrictions that govern the use of an employee’s official title or position or authority in connection with partisan political activity.
  • The limitations on fundraising for partisan political candidates, groups, or parties.
  • And the limitations on certain personal social media activity.

This training will help attendees better understand and apply the Hatch Act rules and restrictions to the current 2024 Federal election cycle and will also identify resources available to employees if they need further guidance on the Hatch Act.

This course will be offered live via Zoom Webinar.
