Scholarships & Internships

Future Success

Part of BIE’s mission is to prepare students with the knowledge, skills, and behaviors needed to flourish in the opportunities of tomorrow. Higher education, also called postsecondary education, is an optional stage of formal learning after secondary education.

The BIE serves American Indian and Alaska Native postsecondary students through higher education scholarships and support funding for tribal colleges and universities. The BIE directly operates two postsecondary institutions: the Haskell Indian Nations University (HINU) in Lawrence, Kansas, and the Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute (SIPI) in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Scholarship Resources

Scholarships are a type of financial aid that help you pay for college. Unlike loans, you don’t have to pay back a scholarship award.

Internship Resources

Fellowships, internships, or volunteer opportunities are excellent ways to refine your educational and career aspirations while adding experience to your resume. Many of these opportunities can provide invaluable experience and potentially offer clear-cut paths to exciting careers.
