Haskell Indian Nations University is the premiere tribal university in the United States, offering quality education to Native American students. Haskell’s student population averages about 1000 per semester, and all students are members of federally recognized tribes. Haskell’s faculty and staff are predominantly native, and its historic campus is centrally located in Lawrence, KS. Haskell offers associate and bachelor's degrees.

Alex Red Corn, Ed.D., a citizen of the Osage Nation, is the acting president of Haskell Indian Nations University through an Intergovernmental Personnel Act assignment. His tenure advances the university’s mission by emphasizing community-driven leadership and operational continuity.
Before joining Haskell, Dr. Red Corn served as director and associate professor of Indigenous Studies and as associate vice-chancellor for Sovereign Partnerships and Indigenous Initiatives at the University of Kansas. He earned his Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Kansas State University — where he also founded the Indigenous Educational Leadership Graduate Certificate program — and later expanded it at KU in 2025. He holds master’s and bachelor’s degrees in social studies education from KU, as well as a graduate certificate in qualitative research methods.
Dr. Red Corn is deeply committed to advancing educational opportunities for Native students and strengthening tribal education capacity. He has led partnerships to increase master’s degree attainment with the Osage Nation, served as executive director of the Kansas Association for Native American Education and chaired the Kansas Advisory Council for Indigenous Education. Recognized with honors, including the 2023 Wilma Mankiller Memorial Award and named an Emerging Scholar by Diverse: Issues in Higher Education in 2022, his scholarship focused on Indigenous research methods and empowering tribal sovereignty through education.
