Native Newsletter

The goal of the Newsletter is to provide the BIE with updated and relevant collaborative, education, funding and learning opportunities to enhance how we access develop, integrate and sustain culturally, linguistic and historical initiative throughout our learning environments. This quarterly Newsletter will provide information on upcoming conferences and insight on upcoming funding and grant opportunities. Additionally, the Newsletter will provide information on initiatives and news that impacts how we engage, and implement initiatives related to culture, history and language.

The Bureau of Indian Education (BIE) welcomes educators to its website. The success of our schools rests with our ability to provide a quality educational environment to our students during the course of the school year. Professional development and training is the key to providing quality educational services to our students. BIE Education Line Officers, School Superintendents, Principals, Teachers and Staff can access program guidance, templates, handbooks, and trainings provided in various formats, such as WebEx or PowerPoint to refresh your skills in certain areas.

Title IVB - 21st Century Community Learning Centers

This program supports the creation of community learning centers that provide academic enrichment opportunities during non-school hours for children, particularly students who attend high-poverty and low-performing schools. The program helps students meet state and local student standards in core academic subjects, such as reading and math; offers students a broad array of enrichment activities that can complement their regular academic programs; and offers literacy and other educational services to the families of participating children.
